It remained on my shoe rack for months until I wore out all of my other shoes. That’s the worst shame that can ever happen to running shoes. I retired the shoes to become my casual shoes. And Lunartempo 2 took a lot of heat because of this problem.Īfter few running outings in Lunartempo 2 totalling to around 150 kilometres, I was forced to come to the fact that I made the wrong purchase. I was limping and running instead of running. The injury was so bad that it altered my strides. A part of me was blaming insufficient rest from a marathon, while another part of me on unsuitable shoes (Lunartempo 2), as the contributor of my injury. I made it worse and my new Lunartempo 2 suffered from an unjust assessment. Contrary to advices that I gave to others, I tried to shake the injury off by running. It was disappointing and frustrating to be down with an injury. It happened that a week after Tokyo Marathon, I injured my IT band. I rewarded myself with a pair of Nike Lunartempo 2 after running Tokyo Marathon. I am a sucker for anything black, but I prefer the Whiteout colourway better. It all changed when Nike introduced two new colourways which were Whiteout and Blackout. Despite being so popular among NBRO running crews (some of them run 2:30-2:40 marathons in Lunartempo 2), it never caught my attention. This did not influence the outcome of the review, written after running more than 50 miles in them.Nike Lunartempo 2 has been around for quite some time. We thank the nice people at Nike for sending us a pair of LunarGlide 5 to test. If you’re feeling really tired on any given day but need to get out the door anyways just put these on and you’ll have enough insulation between you and the ground to increase your pep. These shoes are recommended for long runs and maintenance mileage. Everything Nike did with this shoe model seems geared towards making your feet feel like you are running on a bed of foam. The name of the game with the LunarGlide 5 is comfort. They did not create pressure spots on top of my foot no matter how tight I pulled them. The shoelaces are good quality, thin and flat. Stylistically this model looks fast with its tiny slits all along the upper giving it a blurry texture when in motion. This feature assists the shoe in molding to the foot. Peel back the tongue a bit to see that it is connected part way down the lace guard. It is a glove fit, though it does not appear so at first glance. If you’re the kind of person to wear shoes without socks the Glide will be heavenly.

The Glide’s upper continues the theme of “silky smooth”. On the foot strike you can feel the slight sink as the material compresses. The cushioning is significant and absorbs much of the force from the foot strike. It runs like a neutral shoe, but has the Dynamic Support section found on several Lunar shoes which gives stability when necessary.ĭue to the rounded features the Glide has a smooth ride. The Glide5 is the epitome of the Lunarlon platform. The tread is similar to the Lunar Elite but with a deeper center divot and rounded, smooth features. The sole is Nike’s Lunarlon platform, the basis of all Lunar shoe series. I doubt one could rub a blister except in the worst of conditions. The foot strike is soft, the insole is soft, the mesh upper is soft…This entire shoe just feels soft and silky. That is my first impression, comfort built right into the texture of the shoe.

My first run in the LunarGlide 5 I thought aloud “silky smooth”.
